David Britt Forline was born in the city of Paramount, California and was raised in South Gate. He grew up in a rough
neighborhood, as his family home borders Watts, Compton and Lynwood. David was part of a working class household and had
to learn the hard way that money wasn’t easy to come by.
Despite harsh beginnings and struggles, his parent’s support allowed David to broaden his range and discover his own
artistic ability. David’s interests expanded to include anime, martial arts, drawing and working on classic muscle cars.
The gang infested neighborhood in South-East Los Angeles made it un-escapable to steer clear of their influence and soon
David became "Reaper". At 15, GED in hand, High School behind him, he was now a gang member.
David found time to become a versatile musician. As lead guitarist leader of the popular punk band "The Revolt;" he wrote
and recorded many of the bands hits. He also developed his artistic abilities and a gifted tattoo artist, designed
snowboards and much more.
When his first son was born, he changed his life. He sought a new direction in the world and strived to define himself
and his passion – which he manifested as a Blacksmith. He quickly took to the "art" and is recognized today as one of the
best sword smiths around.
“The work (David does) is amazing”
– Johnny Depp (Actor)
“David has the heart of an old world craftsman, he keeps it in a jar on his worktable. If David were born in the middle
ages he would have made Excalibur, and he wouldn’t have all those darn tattoos…”
– Rick Baker (6-time Academy Award
Winner).
David’s sense of loyalty instilled in him the desire to help others and he has shared his success, providing work and a
trade for many of his old neighborhood friends. His story is at once heartwarming and inspiring – responsible for his own
pathway and growth while never forgetting where he came from. |
